  1. Dear Miss Carmen

In my summer holiday, I went to Canada for 19 days, it was a tremendous experience for me.

The weather in Canada was mostly warm and sunny, it’s pretty windy and chilli sometimes, so it’s much better than Hong Kong’s scorching weather!

I went to soccer camp for 4 days and it was breathtaking, I never tried to play on a standard soccer field, my friends are amusing and we had a wonderful time.

After my soccer week, it was golf week! I went to Nike junior golf and learned a lot of different techniques for playing golf like chipping, putting, using driver etc!

After that wonderful week, we went to Whistler, which is a mountain which is for skiing and snowboarding in winter. So, you must think, there’s no fun in summer, but, you must be wrong, cause summer has a lot other activities, like mountain cycling, ziplines, forest adventuring and a lot more! After staying at whistler for 3 days, we have to get back to home, its was an unforgettable trip for me.

  2. My summer holiday was the best ever!
We didn’t have a lot of summer homework so that was AWESOME! I finished it pretty quickly so we could go to Tokyo earlier.
Tokyo was a blast! We arrived at Narita Airport in the morning, and was greeted by a cup of Royal Milk Tea! It was really good! We took quite a long ride to the hotel so that took a while. Turns out, dad rented a house with 3 floors! It was really pretty! My uncle and aunty woke up super super late, so it took like 30 mins for them to actually get out of bed! My grandma and I were the early birds. A few times, my parents accidentally bought me iced coffee! Haha I really need to thank the person who sold it to them.
One of my favourites is when went to the TeamLab Planets Exhibiion. It was amazing how a few illusions can trick your eye! The funniest moment was when we had to cross some black beanbags! We kept sinking in and falling down. We had a blast though.
Another of my favourites was Disney. Hey, it is the happiest place on earth you know. We played a ton of games! My personal favorite was the Peter Pan ride. It showed you all of London as you “flew” on a magic ship! It was truly magical. My dad also bought me and Edna a blue Toy Story shave ice, soda flavoured! It was of course, delicious!
The last of my favorites is shopping! We shopped and bought a lot of things. I bought a cute blue tee that says “Peace” on it. My favourite part is FOOD! I bought a pearl matcha tea, and it was so good I could fart unicorns!
I really look forward to the next summer holiday!

  3. Dear Miss Carmen,

For the whole summer holiday, I have spend a good time with my family members. I went to Thailand for 7 days and it was a relaxing trip for me.

When I arrived there, I discovered some differences when compared to two years before. First, the weather is more comfortable than the last visit. Second the road in Thailand are clearner and more organized than before which made me felt more pleased.

I enjoyed many delicious meals, such as Tom Yum Gong(spicy shrimp soup)and chicken satay. For some tradition Thai snacks, I also bought a lot From BigC(supermarket),like dried mango, seaweed with different flavour and durian candy.

The hotel that Our family lived for this trip was very beautiful and amazing. Inside the hotel, it has many facilities, like a giant swiming pool. For the whole trip, I have spent three eveings there.

There were some big shopping malls around the hotel, like Siam Paragon, Siam Center and Siam Discovery. We enjoyed shopping in there, and we spent a lot of money.

Seven days are gone and I missed Thailand very much. I hope I can go there to play and shopping next year summer holiday again for me.

  4. A Trip To Japan!

Me and my family went to Japan- Sapporo during the summer holiday! That was the first time we went to Sapporo in Summer. We ate a lot of delicious food, went to see exquisite flower fields and we went to outlet for shopping too!
We woke up early in the morning that day, because our flight is like twelve o’clock at noon. The plane took off and I am ready to go to Japan! See ya later Hong Kong.
After we landed, we went to have some afternoon tea. The ramen was delectable. Then we started our 6 days trip!
We haven’t done much on the first day, because we were all tired after the six-hour flight. But we ate a luscious crab dinner!
The second day, it’s more like a sightseeing day. We went to BLUE POND and SHIRAHIGE FALLS. And there’s a little information’s about the blue pond and the Shirahige falls that I learned during the trip. Blue Pond is a man-made pond. It is the result of works on the Biei River, carried out after the 1988 eruption of Mount Tokachi, to protect the town of Biei from volcanic mudflows. The color is thought to result from the accidental presence of colloidal aluminium hydroxide in the water. Shirahige Falls is a waterfall at about 600 m above sea level in Shirogane Onsen and was named after splashes of the falls like the white mustache. It is the rare waterfall in Japan that underground water drops from cracks of rocks and is one of famous falls together with Furepe Falls in Shiretoko Peninsula and Funbe Falls in Hiroo in Hokkaido.
And the third day, my favourite day! There were a lot of activity on that day, such as, Furano Cheese Factory, Furano Winery and making glass cups by ourself. The cheese and the ice cream from the cheese factory were all popular products made from fresh Furano milk. The delicious pizza toppings were made from local Furano products too! The Furano Winery is open to the public it includes the steps of making the wine, the history and free wine tasting. My favourite activity of the trip is to make our own glass cups. There is a tutor who will explain the instruction and help you to do the hard part.
The fourth and the fifth day, we just went to shopping, shopping and shopping.
At last, we went to the airport and get ready to go back to Hong Kong. This is a memorable trip and I would like to go to Sapporo again!

In my Summer Holiday I had been to Tokyo for 5 days and Bangkok for 9 days to take a look at all the top 5 biggest festival.

When we almost arrive the airport at Tokyo,we saw the Tokyo Tower It is the most beautiful tower that I have seen. Its design is similar to The Eiffel Tower, but just a Tokyo version. Why went to Tokyo, because we were going to see some lanterns those were 4 meters and 11 meters tall, also we saw a street that full of people and lanterns, the people needed to use 1 hand to support the lanterns those were 11 meters tall for at least 1 minute.

When my relatives and we went to Bangkok,We had gone to the biggest water park in Bangkok,we had play for 3 hours at the water park. There were many water slides with colorful colors, but one thing sad is 1 of the water slide was broken and 1 of the pool was broken too…One night,we forgot when did the shopping mall will close, when we got the shopping mall, there were a sign it says,”Sorry, were closed.” After this case,we will never be late for anything…

This is what I had done in this Summer Holiday,I think it would be more fun in the next Summer holiday,I am really looking forward to it!!!

  7. Well…you may think I went on vacation like other students did, but I didn’t. Instead, I spent 2 whole months without leaving HK. You may also think that I had a boring time in my summer holidays. But, staying in HK was fun too!

At first, when my parents told me we weren’t going on vacation this summer, I was devastated. Any person needs to have like, a time where you don’t need to think about anything important. Like homework. I was going to be stuck in my home for weeks. Great. Homework time.

After like 3-4 weeks, I finally finished my homework! I can go out and do some fun activities with my cousins now. Me and my older cousin went to play badminton. It was as exhausting as it was exciting. Partly because I kept beating my older cousin at it.:)

Next day, Me and my younger cousin played some Nintendo Switch. we played a game called Mario Kart and Mario Party. I kept winning in Mario Party and my younger cousin kept winning at Mario Kart. Huh. But, I was the MVP at last. He was sooooo jealousXD

That day, I played a game called Fortnite, a very popular game. I won the first place like…5 times? Mostly using a Golden Scar, Golden Bolt Action Sniper and a Gold Double Barrel Shotgun. It was probably my terrifying Catalyst skin that made my enemies quake in their boots.

Well… those were my ‘Most exciting’ days that I had in HK? I still wish I could’ve gone on vacation like most of you all did, you know?

  8. Dear Ms.Kum,
I had an impeccable summer holiday with my family this year as I went back to my hometown Busan in Korea for 2 days!
Once we arrived at the airport in Busan, we got our luggage and went out for a Taxi ride. Then all of a sudden, we saw a car which looks familiar to my uncle’s, so we went for a closer look. Surprisingly, it was my Uncle, Aunt, and their babies! They told us to hop in so we did, then we had a free ride to grandma’s house.
A few moments later, we finally got to Grandma’s, as we said thanks to them and promised to have a visit where they live.
After bringing the bulky luggage up the stairs, we finally rang the doorbell of Grandma’s. When she opened the door, we gave a huge, warm hug with her. After going into her house, I can smell something delicious, so I asked her what did she cook for dinner. Then, she told me to set up the table and I know that it will be foods going into my deserted stomach which had been waiting for that moment! Sooner or later, she brought in a bunch of appetizing homemade Korean traditional dishes which I love! There’s Korean traditional sushi, seaweed, seasoned eggs, rice and more! Above all of those traditional dishes on the table, my favorite dish was kimchi. Kimchi is a spicy and a little sour cabbage which can be served with rice and almost everything!
a few minutes later, I have already finished ALL the dishes! My mom and dad were astonished since I never had an appetite which is THAT good.
Nevertheless, I ended up sleeping at 9:00 since I have a dental appointment tomorrow in the early morning.
On the second day, I went to the clinic on time which I was elated about that. I was dismal that the orthodontist said they have to tighten my braces so it will hurt for a couple weeks.
After tightening my braces, I got a little treat from mom and that’s going to hair salon for cutting my annoying long hair! I lust my new hairstyle, they have cut my hair until the shoulders, and I LOVE having short hairs, but my mom prefers long hairs…Well, that is the end of my second day!
On the third day, wistfully, we have to leave, as we hugged each other like a bear again and said goodbye.
    Then, finally, Home.Sweet.Home.

My summer holiday was awesome! And that’s mainly because I went to Mongolia with my cousins and friends for 20 days.

At first I was so shocked and amazed that we are going to stay in the same place for like, 20 days, are you crazy?! It could be so boring that we are going to spend 20 days in Mongolia, only Mongolia.

But when I finally know that we are actually not going to only stay in Mongolia for 20 gays, in fact, we are going to Xi’an and Hengyang. Phew, thank god it’s not 20 days in Mongolia. Okay, so how’s my trip?

First we went to Xi’an, we stayed there for 3 days. There were a lot, a lot of delicious, scrumptious foods like those you see on the streets, Fried potatoes swirls, cheese hot dogs, and the most attractive one,FRIED SQUIDS !!!!!! That was almost the best thing I’ve tasted in Xi’an

And then on the 4th day we went to Mongolia. Yeet!WE went to feed the deer, goats and cows. We even got to ride horses!

We had a wonderful Mongolian style dinner and went back yurt. We spent 10 days there.

At last, we went to Hengyang and had some relaxation time for 7 days and we went back to HK.

This trip is very fun and I enjoyed it very much.

  10. In my summer holiday,
Although I did not went to places for vacation like the other kids, I’ve done a lot of stuffs, such as hanging out with my friends and meeting with my family.
The most memorable experience of all is when I hangout with my friend at another school.
It was nearly the best experience in my life!

I invited her to visit places near my home, such as those malls in Ma On Shan. I am not lying, but, we even went to malls at City One by ourselves, without parents! It might be really dangerous, but it was really thrilling and exciting! Of course, we went back to home safely without any dangerous things happening. Or else, how could I possibly write this whole thing? We remembered the direction back home so we would not be lost. If we did, we would ask someone the way back.

We travelled to near by places by MTR ourselves! Can you imagine how fun it was? Of course, my parents did not know that. They only knew that we went to some malls at Ma On Shan and wandered around Heng On . Or else, they will be so over-worried and say that was really dangerous and also said that I might be caught by the Hong Kong Police(Which is not possible because I am just between ten and eleven years old only.) I would be a bit annoyed for this.

We even made slimes by salt, water and glue when we went back to my home, which I knew won’t succeed(It failed several times) We just did it for fun, and there was nothing else to do because we barely had enough time because her parents were calling her back to her home.

That was really fun. In my opinion, that was better than the vacations I went on before. Hanging out with friends was really the best in my life.

I spent my holiday in Hong Kong for two months, I didn’t went to Japan or other countries. By the way, I had a great time!

At the first day of holiday, I went to super park with my friends and it was amazing. We love jumping around and do some cool moves, and being crazy for three hours! Then, we had our dinner, it was my only favourite food…sushi, everyone agrees with me.

The second day, I also had the funniest day ever! Me and my cousin went to ice skating. At that time, I was a bit embarrassing because I kept falling and it was just bad! We skate for one hour, which is enough for me because I can’t take it anymore. Then, we went to see the Toy Story 4, it was the funniest movie and could me my favourite movie. We ate BBQ for dinner and it was yummy, we ate sausage, chicken, pork beef and more!

I love this holiday so much, my calendar is full of events. And I hope next year would be more fun and interesting.

I been having a remarkable time at my summer break, I been visiting my cousins, having unforgettable time with my family, and trying different activities and food! I went to Sydney in the second day of my summer break, I been watching the brand new movies and playing games in the whole journey to the Sydney airport.
The next day, the sun is shining on my face and the captain is telling us that we are now arriving to the Sydney airport, when we arrived to our destination, we pass the security and we get our luggage and try to find our cousin. We found them waiting at the waiting section, so I ran towards them and give them a hug, then we get in to the car and we drive to my cousins´ home.
We have quite a lot of activates in this month in Australia: we been going to Lunar park (That was quite famous in Sydney),skiing at Thredbo, running a whole lap in the park and I almost collapse when I finish the whole lap, and we try a new thing called ´pie´. Don´t be confused that we haven´t try any apple pies or other flavor pies, the ´pie´ that we eat in Australia is a meat pie, most of the people in Australia knows what a ´pie´.

At first, I finish my holiday homework as fast as possible so I can be free without my parents asking me “ Did you finish your homework!” every day.
But there was a very harsh mission to do, jump a grade in my instrument.
When I ask my teacher do I have a chance to jump a grade, my teacher said I need to practice at least three hours every day to even have a chance of passing it!
I was stunned: three hours a day? How can I do that!!! I guess I will have no chance of passing. My mom calmed me and said, “it’s ok, I know you can do it!” it cheers me up a bit but I am still frightened.
A month later, It is just a few days before the grade test, I really did three hours a day! I was really satisfied that I actually achieved three hours a day! My teacher told me“ I am sure you can pass grade six!”
It’s time for me to go in for my grade test. I was very scared that I can’t pass the grade…… “Charlotte, Gu Zheng level six, please go to room two.” I went in and started performing.
A week later, the report card was sent, I passed!!!! I was so happy that I have incredibly passed!
I love this holiday so much, level seven, here I come!

  18. Many memorable things happened during this Summer. Well, I managed to complete all my homework within the first month, which was great, and that means… …I had great fun for the second month of Summer!
When Summer just started, I basically spent all my time on having classes, and doing homework. At that point, Summer just wasn’t the best, but at least i got to eat dinner with my friends all the time.
Well, Summer slowly went better and better. Soon, it became the best Summer EVER.The best part was traveling to Seoul. My family and I spent the first day at LOTTE WORLD, which is a super entertaining amusement park at Seoul. I went on most of the rides by myself because my family just would not dare to go on any of them.
On the second day, my family brought me to go shopping! It was amazing! I saw many blackpink items when I was on the street. I ended up buying a ton of things, and um…wasted a lot of money. We also went to Aland, and bought many T-shirts.
On the third day, we went to the famous Seoul Tower, and saw a beautiful view. We arrived at the Seoul Tower before sunset, and stayed there until night time. So that we could see the view during the afternoon, the view when the sun sets, and the night view.
After my family and I came back to Hong Kong from Seoul, I went to a indoor skiing place, and skied for one whole day. It was as if I was in Japan! It was freezing cold. It was my first time in a indoor skiing avenue, and it was a great experience.
Well that’s basically it for my Summer blog, it was the best Summer EVER.

In my summer holiday, my family and I went to an amazing city in Holland – Amsterdam. My family and I went to Amsterdam for 4 days, but im going to tell you the best and most exciting day in Amsterdam….

It was the second day at Amsterdam, when we were eating breakfast at the hotel. I was curious where we are going to go and do today, so I asked my parent where were going to. My parents said we’re going to see the windmill. When I heard that we we’re going to see windmills, I was wondering… why are we going to see windmills? I mean I saw electronic windmill before?

We took the train and we arrived. While we’re walking to see the windmills, I was looking at the little cottages there. The suddenly there was this cottage which had a really weird shape. Then I looked up.. I was shocked! It wasn’t a cottage nor a factory. It was a windmill, a very old style one. It had 4 sales instead of 3 , it was a lit wider than the ones I saw before and it was green not white.

My family and I continued walking and we arrived to a Windmill Museum. I learned lots of things about windmills in Amsterdam. You know what? There used to be 600 windmills in Amsterdam, amazing right? But sadly there’s only 5 windmills left. There used to be windmill is for making wheat, oil and flour.

Instead of learning about windmills, I was even allowed to experience going in the windmill and up the windmill. I was a bit scared going up to the windmill, because we had to go up a ladder, but it was totally worth it. At the top floor at the windmill was very windy and breezy. The view was beautiful, I could even see the over windmills, it was a perfect spot to take pictures and selfies.

This was my fun and exciting summer holiday to Holland. I wish I could go again next year to see the windmills at sunset and o to the windmill museums I missed out. Can’t wait till next year!!!!

In this summer holiday, it was full of colour. Because I have done many things. Such as travelling, reading, playing and etc. Now I will share with you my experience.
At the end of July, my family with me went to Iceland and Germany for vacation. First of all, we needed to fly to London and then transited to Iceland. We rented a car and father drove us to the Thingvellir National park. It is a protected national shrine. The entire Thingvellir region is in a rift valley created by the drifting apart of the North American and European tectonic plates. We could walk inside the crack! Next, we went to a Geysir. Every five minutes, it will shoot out lots of hot water and it splashes out everywhere! It shoots out water 70m into the air. It is amazing!
The next day, we went to a large waterfall-Gulfoss. Hundreds of gallons of water came splashing into the river. It is a tremendous sight! We also went to two more waterfalls! Then, we went to a glacier peak with ice at the top. We walked on a trail and end up at the front of a glacier. It is very beautiful! I could also touch the Ice!
Next, we arrived at a black beach because it is fully covered with ash from a volcano! It is all black! At a corner, there is a large cave with different shapes of rocks inside. Later, we drove to a town called Höfn. We went to a local seafood restaurant for dinner. We ordered langoustine, fish and lamb. It is very delicious! The Langoustines are full of juice!
At the last day in Iceland, we went to Reykjavik and ready to go to another trip-Germany. I miss Iceland so much because the scenery is very special! I want to go to Iceland again! But I need to go to school. This is my summer experience, how about your’s?

    1. Dear Miss Yiu,

During this Summer Holiday, I had a very marvellous time! I went travelling, doing homework, reading books and also went to my friend Alex Lam’s farewell party!

During this Summer Holiday, My family and I went to Thailand, Bangkok for vacation! The thing we mostly do in Bangkok is eating. Almost every night, we will go to a plaza and eat dinner, one night, we went into a restaurant that eats beef and pork, we ate a lot! We lived in a hotel that is near to the river SHERATON! The river was as big as the Pacific Ocean!

After the vacation, I went to my friend Alex’s farewell party, his party was held in Superpark that is near to Olympian City, we played a lot of games, like basketball, soccer, skateboarding, trampolining and more! After we played for a long time, we were tired so we went to the party room and ate lunch, we each ate a set that has a mini hotdog, chips and a drink. After we finish eating our lunch, we started playing games again. We had a very great time in Superpark.

The wonderful moment in Superpark has ended, now it’s time for the worst part…HOLIDAY HOMEWORK! I finished my homework within three days, it takes a lot of time. After I finished my homework, I read a lot of books, I almost finished all the books from my bookshelf!

Last year’s holiday was an unforgettable holiday, I can’t wait for this year’s! Bye!

  21. Hi Miss Yiu,

I got a fantastic summer holiday! I have been going to Ocean Park Marriott for 2 days 1 night! The first day, I’m so excited And I run down from the elevator, I see the swimming pool at first, second I see The Enormous hotel Building, Then I whispered “wow……” after mom and dad get the room card, I run into the room, is very big inside and it can see Ocean Park very clearly.

After checking-in our room, we went to Aberdeen to have lunch. We have eaten a seafood lunch. It got abalone, scallop, some fish and lobsters.it is very luscious! Me and Grandma and Grandpa love this Seafood Lunch! It was gorgeous!

The next day, we take breakfast at the launch, after, we went up to our room and change our clothes to a swimsuit and we wait for each other in the poolside.’’BOOM!”Because I’m too excited, so I jumped down into the pool already. The pool was very enormous, and it got a Children’s pool. I Swim To there and play’ Push the pumpkin’’. that game Rule is you got two plump, And you need two people to play this game. each of them needs to push the plump, and the pumpkin will receive water. If Player 1’s pumpkin was full of water, so the pumpkin will drop all the water. that means player 2 wins.

After swimming in the swimming pool, we go back to the room and get a bath. after bathing, we went down to the launch for eating dinner. it got lobsters, spaghetti, sausage and more. we feel so full!

I feel so delighted at these 2 days because It was my first chance to have a Hong Kong trip, so I think it is the happiest summer holiday for me!

I had a brilliant summer this year ,because I went to Thailand’s Bangkok and Pattaya and I will share some of my experience with you.
In the day before me and my family went to Thailand ,I can barely sleep ,because I am too exited for the next day ,so I slept at around eleven o’clock .
the next day we wet to the airport with my grand parents and my mom and dad ,we checked in and waited for the airplane to arrive, and when we went on the plane I felt really disappointed ,because there has no TV on the plane ,so we kept on chatting about life stuff ,lastly we finally arrived.
We took taxi from Bangkok to Pattaya and took rest for the rest of the day.
The next day ,we explored around the hotel ,which is a big water park there are water slides ,swimming pools…and we enjoyed it very much!
The other day ,we went to the cartoon network water theme park ,there are some stimulate games and some tasty lunch to eat so we spend the whole day in the theme park .What a fun day!
In the fourth day in Thailand ,we needed to change the hotel from Pattaya to Bangkok ,after arriving we had dinner together and went back to the hotel and watch TV.
The next day is also a day that I am waiting for a long time which was the night market ,when its time for dinner ,I am the first one to rush out of the room and nearly fell down ,when we got there we first made some souvenir for my friends and took dinner.
Finally ,a few days later ,its finally time to go home ,this time on the plane ,there is a TV ,I watched a movie called ‘DUMBO’ .Then we arrived Hong Kong ,said good bye to my grandparents and went home.Where did you go in this summer?

This summer I went to a trip,Australia in August I love and enjoy it so much, of course I did some of my homework before I go.
I love to play and chat with my family over the trip, but I it really tired. Everyday we went to buy snacks such as chips and candies.
But then I found the I brought my Chinese book to the trip and I did not finish my Chinese book report so in the middle of the trip, I have to work really hard to finish my Chinese book report before I can play everyday again.
Lastly, I felt that it was an amazing and awesome summer I hope that I can be that relax every summer, but then when I fight back to Hong Kong I almost sleep for 4 hours in the morning!!

In summers the weather in is very hot. My school closes down for two months. While it is fun to go to school, I enjoy my long summer vacation too.
During my vacation, as the temperature reaches a high of 31 degrees Celsius, I like making delicious and desert . I enjoy having cool drinks. So my brother and I join my mother in making sherbet with berries and fruits. It is fun to make. We love to drink sweet sherbet with chilled water. We also make lemonade with fresh lime. These drinks help us feel cool and refreshed.
I also like to make burger with cheese, tomatoes and onions during meals in summer time. I like to chop the vegetables in creative ways and in different shapes. It is equally creative to arrange the burger on serving plates.
I also love reading Hindi literature during the holidays.

  27. Dear Mrs. Poon,
I want to recommend a book that call “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” is about Alice falls a sleep in a meadow and dreams that she follows the White Rabbit down a rabbit hole. She has many wondrous, often bizarre adventures with thoroughly illogical and very strange creatures, often changing size unexpectedly she grows as tall as a house and shrinks to 3 inches Alice is quietly reading over her sister’s shoulder when she sees a White Rabbit dash across the lawn and disappear into its hole. She jumps up to rush after him and finds herself falling down the rabbit hole. At the bottom, she sees the White Rabbit hurrying along a corridor ahead of her and murmuring that he will be late. He disappears around a corner, leaving Alice standing in front of several locked doors.

On a glass table, she finds a tiny golden key that unlocks a little door hidden behind a curtain. The door opens upon a lovely miniature garden, but Alice cannot get through the doorway because it is too small. She sadly replaces the key on the table. A little bottle mysteriously appears. Alice drinks the contents and immediately begins to grow smaller, so much so that she can no longer reach the key on the table. Next, she eats a piece of cake she finds nearby, and soon she begins to grow to such an enormous size that she can only squint through the door. In despair, she begins to weep tears as big as raindrops. As she sits crying, the White Rabbit appears, moaning that the Duchess will be angry if he keeps her waiting. He drops his fan and gloves, and when Alice picks them up, she begins to grow smaller. Again she rushes to the garden door, but she finds it shut and the golden key once more on the table out of reach.

Then she falls into a pool of her own tears. Splashing along, she encounters a mouse who stumbled into the pool. Alice tactlessly begins a conversation about her cat Dinah, and the mouse becomes speechless with terror. Soon the pool of tears is filled with living creatures—birds and animals of all kinds. An old Dodo suggests that they run a Caucus Race to get dry. Asking what a Caucus Race is, Alice is told that the best way to explain it is to do it, whereupon the animals run themselves quite breathless and finally become dry. Afterward, the mouse tells a “Tail” to match its own appendage. Alice is asked to tell something, but the only thing she can think of is her cat Dinah. Frightened, the other creatures go away, and Alice is left alone.

The White Rabbit appears once more, this time hunting for his gloves and fan. Catching sight of Alice, he sends her to his home to get him a fresh pair of gloves and another fan. In the Rabbit’s house, she finds the fan and gloves and also takes a drink from a bottle. Instantly, she grows to be a giant size and is forced to put her leg up the chimney and her elbow out the window to keep from being squeezed to death.

She manages to eat a little cake and shrink herself again. As soon as she is small enough to get through the door, she runs into a nearby wood where she finds a caterpillar sitting on a mushroom. The caterpillar is very rude to Alice, and he scornfully asks her to prove her worth by reciting “You Are Old, Father William.” Alice does so, but the words sound very strange. Disgusted, he leaves her, after giving her some valuable information about increasing or decreasing her size. She breaks off pieces of the mushroom and finds to her delight that she can become taller by eating from the piece in her left hand.
