Technology is almost everywhere we look, since we are surrounded by things produced by art or craft. In general, it seems that anything human beings do that is not natural involves us in some way with technology. Below are a series of observations about technology in the world today. Do you think each observation is ‘True’ or ‘False’? Write a few paragraphs (don’t just answer yes/no for each prompt).

Technology helps us a lot in our daily life, but is it good for the environment? Let’s find it out!
1. I don’t agree that cars will eventually be made so that they will not cause excessive harm to the environment. It is because some of the cars will give off some gases that will cause harm to the environment, animals and even humans, that ‘monster’ is carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide is a colourless and tasteless flammable gas that is slightly less dense than air. Carbon monoxide poisoning is the most common type of fatal air poisoning in many countries. Although carbon monoxide is not known as a direct contributor to climate change, however, it plays a role in this area.
2. Farmers will determine ways to feed the world’s growing population and eliminate hunger and I don’t agree with this statement. I believe that every farmer wants to be a farmer not just to earn money, but want to help eliminate hunger. There are not many people now who want to do this job, because it needs a lot of hard work to get a good result. In that case, technology can help. Metals have no feelings and they just have to follow the instructions (coding).
3. Human beings can stop doing research on computer technology whenever they decide it is to their advantage to do so and I think this is also true. Try to think who did all this amazing stuff? It is human! We can stop whenever we like because it is our choice. However… Humans will not improve on technologies if we stopped. Maybe a thousand years later, lions will take over the world. So we must keep improving!
4. Global warming is not a serious problem. This is absolutely wrong! Global warming will affect a lot of animals and make the weather very extreme. Polar bears are one of the innocent victims. They live in Iceland and they get used to very cold weathers. Global warming destroyed their habitat! The ice is starting to melt and their living place slowly disappears. Technologies are good, but we can’t overuse them. For example, air conditioner, fan, heater… You may feel very comfortable inside, but outside will become very hot.
5. I don’t think that technology will use up many natural resources that will harm the environment. Nowadays, many people want to save the environment. So they try to invent some useful, but also good for the environment technology, like electric vehicles. A lot of technology uses electricity and batteries and those aren’t the reason that harms the environment, it is the gas that is giving off from the thing (air conditioner). Why will they invent electric vehicles when electricity and batteries will harm the environment?
6. Do you think there are more advantages than disadvantages to technology? I think that there are more advantages. It is because technologies are invented to help people. As you can see, technologies are really making us convenient. Firstly, we can instantly see what is happening around us. Secondly, we can learn online on different platforms and search for different information. Lastly, we can chat or call with the technology. Do you agree with me?
7. People do not rely too much on technology. I don’t see why people won’t rely on technology when they are more convenient. For students, when they don’t know the answers to the homework. It’s easy, search from the internet! For parents, they are taking care of the crying baby. Use some apps to play a lullaby, it will calm the baby down. All the things above are technology! Can technology really do anything?
8. Life is better now than 100 years ago because of technology. Of course! 100 years ago, people had to cook for a long time, they don’t have instant noodles or pre-packaged food. And also people from 100 years ago have to climb ladders to get books from the high bookshelf in the library, but now we can do online reading we don’t even need to go to the library.

Today I will tell you about the topic “Do we control technology or does technology control us?” Here are my opinions.
1. Cars will eventually be made so that they will not cause excessive harm to the environment.
It only depends on which type of cars you use. For the car that used fuel will produce waste gas and make the world even worse in pollution. But for electric cars, its raw material is poison to the environment. So I would say that it is a false statement.
2. Farmers will determine ways to feed the world’s growing population and eliminate hunger.
I would think that it would be a true statement. Because we usually eat rice and the rice is
harvested by farmers. Not only rice but also spaghetti or macaroni as they are made from flour where flour is planted by the farmers!
3. Human beings can stop doing research on computer technology whenever they decide it is to their advantage to do so.
I think it is true, because I can spare the time on researching the computer to do some even more useful things. Such as: doing exercise to keep you healthy or go out with your families and friends and my life will be more joyful.
4. Global warming is not a serious problem.
I think global warming is a serious problem, because animals will get extinct or become
endangered species. For example, the polar bears live on ice and global warming will melt the ice. In other words, then the polar bears will lose their homes.-_-

It is true because people will always want new technology. They will throw the old one away which causes electric wastes. The electric wastes will produce harmful substances to the soil in the Earth.

It would be false, because human beings will rely a lot on technology once they usually know how much the technology helps us. I know people need electronic devices to go online and do research but sometimes they will also think of playing video games which is a disadvantage for people.

False, human beings rely on technology because some lazy people that doesn’t want to do anything and once they know how much technology helps them then they will be even be lazier and rely more on technology

I think that it would be true because 100 years ago there are no alarms, tv, mobile phones,
chromebooks and even more. Because 100 years ago, the technology is still not that modern than nowadays.

1.In my opinion,it is true.In the future,electric cars will be eventually made which will not harm the environment.The car needs a big battery to move.
2.Farmers may not determine ways to eliminate hunger,because the population will continue to grow and make the situation more worse,and they need to plan how to eliminate hunger.This makes it nearly impossible.

1. I think that it is true that cars will eventually be made so that they will not cause excessive harm to the environment, because of people in the world like cars, and because of global warming. ( junkyard pile-ups are becoming much smaller than they were in the past. About three-quarters of today’s average car, including the bulk of a steel frame, can be recycled). But, I think this will be not much of use because no matter how high your technology is, there still will be some flue gas coming out of the car. So, the only way to save the earth is to produce fewer cars, and man-up to walk by yourself.
2. I think it is true that farmers will determine ways to feed the world’s growing population and eliminate hunger by using more advanced technology but only under urgent circumstances because if they only use technology to often plant and harvest, farmers will slowly lose their jobs.
3. Yes and no, because first of all, some disciplined people can control themselves to not fall in to “The trap of Technology”, but some people are too concentrated and addicted to the technology they cannot stop and ended up using technology for hours non stop. Second of all, if we have online lessons or homework on electronic devices, we can’t really just say no, can we? So, my answer to this opinion is yes and no.
4. I do not agree, because global warming is a really serious problem, here’s what will happen if we do not take action now. Firstly, our sea level will rise by 1.5- 1.8 feet by 2100, second, heat waves. People will be exposed to extreme heat waves every 5 years, Heatwaves will become more frequent and severe around the world, affecting hundreds of millions—or even billions—of people if we don’t act. Third, plants and animals at risk of losing more than half of their habitats 18% of insects 16% of plants 8% of vertebrates As the earth continues to warm, crucial habitats may no longer be hospitable for certain animals or plants. To name a few.
5. True, because as we grow, more people will have more brilliant ideas, so they will try and build their idea out, and because of that our natural resources will become a lot less, and it will eventually harm the environment we are in.
6. As much as I hate to admit, it is true that there are more advantages than disadvantages of technology. Because if more people invent things which are helpful to the community, the world will be much easier. Like this laptop, I’m using now. Think about it, if the coronavirus was set 100 years ago, firstly, the students would miss out on a lot of learning because they couldn’t have online lessons, second, the doctors will be a lot busier because we don’t have a machine to calculate the heartbeat etc.
7. No, in my opinion, nowadays people rely on technology too much.

Yes and No. Because right now, too many people rely on technology too much, so they get lazy and let technology handle all things, and because they don’t work or figure things out by themselves, they lose their ability to work, so they must rely on technology. 1.) I agree, because there are more electric cars being produced.as they run on electricity and not gas, running by gas produces carbon dioxide and carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas and that causes global warming.You wont have this when you have electronic gas.

1. True, Although the car number in the city will increase, but technology help us to use Green energy like, electric and solar power instead of Fossil fuels like, LPG and oil. It can be more environmentally friendly and it will save the energy of the earth. It can also save the money, because the oil is so expensive, but the green energy is cheaper than the fossil fuel. Here are some of the example about technology can help us save the planet. First, in hong kong, there is bus that run on eletric. It is serving route 284 in KMB. The route is from Sha Tin Center to Ravana Garden. The bus run by eletric, so the bus have a big Accumulator to save the eletric to use, and this bus is zero emission, so it wouldn’t be harm to the enviroment. Another example is solar energy car, in australia Student-Designed Electric Car Breaks World Record by Crossing Australia in 6 Days Using Only $50 of Power. Solar energy car use the sun energy to move the car. They use Solar panels to receive the sun’s energy.

Do we control technology or does it control us? On a daily basis, a lot of people do things like typing, watching videos, playing video games and riding vehicles, all of which will not be possible without technology. Even typing this thing requires technology. But technology also bring negative effects. More and more people are getting short-sight, and rely on technology for simple things.
I do believe that humans can invent cars with no excessive harm to the environment. Human technology are becoming more and more advanced. Besides, there are more alternatives to power cars than gas such as electricity or solar power, which is what powers cars now and causes most harm to the environment. However, I am doubtful wether humans can invent cars that causes no harm to the environment can be invented before it’s too late. A lot of people are driving cars, and the world grows more polluted by each second.
My answer to the second statement is yes. Humans can easily invent some sort of greenhouse which saves crops from flood, dehydration, and give them enough sunlight for them. Also, humans have already made genetically modified produce. How hard would it be for them to create some large apples or turnip that could feed two to three people? Also, there’s actually enough food for everyone even now. One-third of the food bought end up in the garbage bin, yet every five seconds someone dies of hunger. That means the issue is not the quantity of food produced, but the unfair distribution of it. Even if genetically modified food is planted, people might still die of hunger.
For the third opinion, I think it won’t benefit the human kind if humans stop researching computer technology. There is no perfect, only better. There is a lot of things that would be good for computors to do but they can’t. Ever tried to access the internet but fail because of the lack of Wi-fi? Or be short sighted due to a long time staring at a computor screen? There are a lot of things that computers could do but can’t, so humans can continue working on computors.
Global warming is definitely not something you can ignore. Habitats are vanishing from earth, such as the artic and antarctica, and multiple species are endangered, such as polar bears and penguins. A massive hole appeared in the atmosphere, thus making earth more scorched than ever. Places which is hot before are now steaming, and entire boulders of ice melt t nothing but water. This will lead to floods. Plants and animals which humans prey on may be extincted, which will lead to starvation and eventually the end of the human race. I do have faith that humans could think of something which works just as well as the technology we have but not pollute the environment.
Well, it already did! As I said just now, a hole appeared in the atmosphere because of the carbon dioxide cars emit, and animals, habitats are vanishing. Global warming is only a part of the damage done to earth. The ocean is also being polluted by the oil boats spray, and the oil mined from ocean floors. High tech fishing is causing fishes to die super quickly. People also need wood for creating new technology, and forests are being burned for their trees.
I do think the advantages of technology are more than the disadvantages of it. It provides us with the ability to communicate with each other even when seperated by long distances, travel lond distances quickly and generate light at night. Sure, there are some disadvantages, like making people short-sighted, addicted to the internet, but I belive the good technology has brought us is more than the harm it brought us.
The answer for this is a definite yes. There is a lot of things humans can do before that humans can’t do now without technology. People before can walk for a long time, while people now can’t do that without the help of trains, cars, boats or planes. Some people will even choose to not do anything because they’re addicted to the internet.
Yes, I do think life is better now compared to a hundred years ago, and a huge part of this is because of the technology we have now. A lot of thing we think is necessary now is not even thought possible a century ago. Smart phones, airplanes, all these things are not invented at that time, and the majority of people have to use different and less efficient ways to achieve the same effects.

1. More cars powered by electricity will be made, it’s because that they are more environmental friendly than petrol cars. They tend to emit less green house gases and air pollutants, so if more people changed their cars from petrol cars to electric ones, there will be less air pollution.
2. Farmers can eventually use some not organic way to produce more food in less time, but the crops and food will be less healthy. Even thought they food might not have the same amount of nutrients, but the amount of people who suffer from hunger is too much, so farmer may have to use those ways to produce more food in a small period.
3.Its true that humans can stop using computer technology to do research as long time doing research will damage our eyes and we will less read books for researching stuff, we should use both books and computers.
4.It is false that global warming is not a serious problem, global warming is a very serious problem that lots of people are concerned about it. In the latest news, polar bears eat their own children as they are so hungry as the ice caps are melting, and to the creatures living there, it’s no joke. They suffer from loss of habitat and loss of food source.

1. Yes. I believe that humans can invent cars which won’t cause air pollution, for example, solar energy cars are one of the solutions. But, people still need to think of a lot of problems. What if there’s no sun on that day? How will the car charge?
2. I disagree. Technology cannot change the growth time of the plant. The growth time of the plant will follow nature. Although hunger is a big problem in the world, technology can’t change nature and make more food.
3. I agree. When we have fully developed the computer technology, we can try and work on something else to improve our living area.

Technology refers to the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, like industry, medical, and etc. Technology is well developed, and it is believed that it may often help human beings in the future.
If you ask me does technology control us or do we control technology, I would say it depends. If you plan your time well and control yourself, you definitely could control technology. If you are out of control and non-stop using technology, it’s definitely the other way round. For example, phones. The technology on mobile phones is highly developed, and it is improving at the same time. Some people is addicted to phones, because the interactive games have colorful screens and exciting sounds that attracts people to non-stop looking at screen, so the technology on mobile phones controls them. Some people use phones for two to three hours only each day, because they control the technology of mobile phones really well. Many people thinks that we control technology, but actually it depends on your behavior. Also, if we control it well, it will definitely bring us lots of advantages.
Now let’s look at some examples of technology’s advantages!
In my opinion, technology can improve our daily life. I think that cars will be made so it will not harm the environment. It is because electric-powered vehicles can help reducing harm to the environment by not burning fossil fuels. Once electric-powered vehicle is improved and promoted so people stop using fuel cars, it will help the environment a lot. I also believed that farmers can eliminate hunger. Some food are genetically modified food, and farmers can adopt this method to grow more food so everyone can have enough food. I think that life is better now than one hundred years ago. For instance, industry technology and medical technology. 100 years ago, the buildings were really short compared to the ones now and medical technology was not as highly developed as today. Technology surely can make our daily life more convenient.
I think technology can make the environment better, and the statement “technology will harm the environment” is absurd. Technology can help prevent food waste by keeping better track of foods, from the farm to the dining table. Food waste increases the temperature so global warming and climate change is getting more serious, which would definitely harm the environment and human life. Technology can help the environment, and it can also make the earth a better place.
Technology can help the environment and improve human’s daily life. It has lots of advantages, and if we control technology well, it will definitely be beneficial to all human beings.

Everything now has flaws and strengths, and now I would discuss some of them.
I think cars will eventually be made so that they will not cause excessive harm to the environment. It is because nowadays a lot of people are raising awareness of how the human species are ruining the environment, plus some car brands are making progress to make cars so that they will not cause excessive harm to the environment, for example: Tesla, Audi, BMW…
I do not think that farmers will determine ways to feed the world’s growing population and eliminate hunger. I think that since the actual reason for hunger is that a lot of people ¨Eat more than they can chew¨ and waste a lot of food.
I don’t think human beings can stop doing research on computer technology whenever they decide it is to their advantage to do so. It is not that I think humans don’t have the ability to take their research attention away from their screens, it is just that I don’t think that at some point of time computer technology is a disadvantage.
I absolutely disagree that global warming is not a serious problem, because as my grandparents would always say, ¨Back in the days, it always was cool with a relaxing cool breeze.¨and that is the reason I think global warming may only rise >1 degrees, but after a few hundred years, the earth’s surface will become as hot as a volcano!

Dear ms. Sandra,
In my opinion,I think we shall never got controlled by the technology because we made the technology out. So I think we should use it wisely. For example, using the newest for some zoom lessons or some online maps. That will be a good way. But, if you don’t use it in a good way, that will be bad. Such as being a hacker, using cheats and make some bad behaviours.
Technology simplifies and enhances our lives each day. We live in a fancy, high-tech world, where people cannot live without their smart televisions, cell phones, computers, and other devices. It is impossible to measure how much we use technology in different ways each day.
Technology is constantly improving and doing more impressive things, and it has had a huge impact in the field of education. With the help of technology, students can learn on a global scale without leaving their classrooms or homes.
Everywhere we go, we cannot seem to escape them, whether we are at the doctor’s office, the grocery store, or the mall — those sounds and buzzes all around us that are constantly alerting people about the arrival of new messages, new e-mails, or new “likes” on social media. Many of you, including myself, feel compelled to view and respond to those messages and notifications quickly. We seem to have forgotten what it feels like to live without a cell phone.
In our society, people have become slaves to devices that were supposed to make life easier and less stressful. Some of us could even have an addiction.
