Do we control technology or does technology control us?
Technology is almost everywhere we look, since we are surrounded by things produced by art or craft. In general, it seems that anything human beings do that is not natural involves us in some way with technology. Below are a series of observations about technology in the world today. Do you think each observation is ‘True’ or ‘False’? Write a few paragraphs (don’t just answer yes/no for each prompt).
1. Cars will eventually be made so that they will not cause excessive harm to the environment.

Today’s agriculture routinely uses sophisticated technologies such as robots, temperature and moisture sensors, aerial images, and GPS technology. These advanced devices and precision agriculture and robotic systems allow businesses to be more profitable, efficient, safer, and more environmentally friendly.

Dear Ms Sandra, half of the people say that, “Technology will make our lives better!” And while the second half says,” Technology ruins our life!” Hmm, does technology ruin our life or it improves it? Well this is my opinion on technology.
First, the statement stated that cars will be eventually made so that they will not cause excessive harm to the environment. I think this statement is true, because over the years, decades, centuries, human’s brains will eventually grow smarter, their ways of improving entities will grow mature.
Second, the farmers determine ways to feed the world’s growing population and eliminate hunger.
Well for this statement, i think it is false. Even though, there may be a possible way of growing enough crops for the whole race, but the problem is, you need money to buy the food. So if a country has not much money, they can’t buy food.
Thirdly, true, because of the endless demands of the humans. Technologies if wrongly used, would harm our environment.
We should stop whenever it is to our advantage. To preserve this world.
Fourthly, why is global warming a threat? Well, global warming could make animals extinct. If we lose some important animal species, our food chain will break. Then the whole nature would suffer, eventually that could destroy the life cycle.
Fifthly, technology does consume natural resources, but if the resources could not be recycled, it creates wastage, such as industrial waste and even toxic waste. These wastes cause harm to wildlife.
Sixthly, yes, there are more advantages than disadvantages of technology. Technology helps us in transportation, communication, and entertainment. It even helps medical advances in fighting disease and reduce syndromes.

Nowadays, technology is everywhere.We have robots to help or serve us, we have drones and more….But do technology control us or do we control technology?
I think we control technology. I agree that cars will eventually be made so that they will not cause excessive harm to the environment, because we already have cars that use batteries rather than using oil. Oil spreads out awful smell and more and more air pollution. Isn’t it lousy?
Furthermore, I also agree with this point: Farmers will determine ways to feed the world’s growing population and eliminate hunger, because over the century with the assistance of farm technology or machines can make plants grow faster and healthier, then we can have more products coming out.

1.I think is true because cars can later be made with recycle materials such as electric energy which can do less harm to the environment instead of using gas that will make the air dirty like the past. When we have electric cars, the air will be cleaner and will not harm the environment so bad.

Nowadays, technology is all around us, and it has been seriously affecting our daily lives. There are televisions, phones, ipads, earphones, and much more. Humans are now creating unnecessary robots, electrical replacements for objects, and that is what surrounds us humans. Little kids are now entertaining themselves with technology, and ruining their childhood that could be filled with so many fun activities. Not only that, but because there are so many electric replacements for everyday objects, us humans are getting lazier, and our eyesight is getting worse! Technology is now taking over our lives, and that’s terrible news.
Devices were made for us humans to control, not to take over and control our lives. What’s worse is that this problem is quickly growing more and more severe. I think that there will be cars that do not cause excessive harm to the environment in the future. Based on the current scientific progress, I believe that humans will be able to create an environmentally friendly car. People have already invented some environmentally friendly electric products like phone chargers, clocks, drones, and more. I think humans will be able to create cars that don’t require petrol, which creates exhaust gas, and is the main threat to the environment in cars. I feel that humans will eventually figure out a way to invent a great car that will not cause excessive harm to the environment.
I think that farmers will not determine ways to feed the world’s growing population and eliminate hunger. I feel that way because even with high technology and fast-growing products, there will not be enough space to grow enough food for the world especially as the world population is growing at a rate of 100,000,000 people per year. We will not only have less space for farming, but much more people to feed as well! This task is impossible to achieve even with our imaginary gadgets. That is why I believe farmers will not in any way be able to determine ways to feed the world’s growing population and eliminate hunger.
I believe humans can not stop doing research on computer technology whenever they decide it is their advantage to do so. It is because technology can bring many goods to our lives as long as we do not overly rely on them. Both those problems can be avoided as long as we limit and control ourselves with our devices.
I think that people are currently relying too much on technology, especially their phones. I think that this is the main problem with people and technology. Anyone can go on the streets, and see many people on their phones while walking. Also, people are relying on online websites way too much! Most people are now online shopping a lot because it is more convenient. This takes away the time that people could be taking a walk with their friends or family. Overall, people are relying on their devices to do things that hey could be doing themselves, and that is affecting their health and daily lives.
I believe technology has really improved our lives now, and life is better now than 100 years ago because of technology. Technology have not only saved our lives in numerous situations, but it has also brought us joy and comfort. It may have some negative effects, but it most definitely has even more possible effects. 100 years ago, many lives were sacrificed because the technology level was not as advanced, but now, technology is advanced enough to help us through many things.

In these days, technology became very popular and it was an important role for our daily lives too, but will technology make everything better? Here are some of my thoughts.
1) I don’t believe that cars will eventually be made so that they will not cause excessive harm to the environment because the gas that cars pollute is very harmful to the environment, the air will be more turbid and will not be likely to breathe for us anymore. Also, walking is a nice sport for busy citizens too, but when everyone has cars, no one will walk for a long distance anymore.
2) I think farmers will determine ways to feed the world’s growing population and eliminate hunger because farming skills are kept improving to produce more crops for everyone. Just like indoor planting, they could save space and wouldn’t be affected by the weather conditions outside.
3) I think this is false because technology already became a part of our daily lives and it was a very hard task to separate it from us whenever we wanted to.
4) I disagree with this statement because as technology products are produced and developing quickly, the global warming issue is getting worse too. A lot of animals’ lives are being threatened due to pollution and also city development.

I don’t agree with this observation, because nowadays human beings too rely on electronic devices. When they don’t know about some information then they will search online about the information.
4.Global warming is not a serious problem. Well I certainly do not agree with this observation, nowadays global warming is very serious to all of us. Let me ask you a few questions, have you seen polar bears thin as a chopstick? Well I have , the polar bears have not eaten anything in a few days and had to swim in the ocean in a few days just to find a land to live on. Have you seen people in Africa have so much food to eat? I’m sure you have not, cause they can’t even eat three full meals per day and each five second a kid will die because of starving.

Now, technologies are surrounding us. You can use and see them anytime, anywhere. We use computers for work, phones for social, televisions for watching movies… Technologies are becoming more and more in use in our daily life. However, do we control technology? For the first observation, I think ¨cars will eventually be made so that they will not cause excessive harm to the environment¨ is true, because people already made electric cars. In an estimation at 2100 (22nd century), the world’s population will rise up to 10 billion. Even though our technology is advance, it is hard to feed very much people. Since our society is becoming more prosperous, less and less people want to be a farmer, technology can´t help much with this problem. Also, planting foods needs a lot of time naturally.
For the third observation, I think we shall not stop research and developing computer technology, because computers can be more enhanced and it gives us so much resources. Although our computers are already very convenient for us, there are still some bugs sometimes when loading a page and it is very laggy. I think we shall keep on solving these problems, update the computers and to add more functions.
For the fourth observation, I think that it is false because global warming is a critical problem. Humans have a lot of needs. We cut down the trees for paper, we build up factories for making different products, we have to drive cars to go to far destination… However, all these things made our global warming problem much more serious. Earth is like a thermos bottle, if you put much and much more hot water, the inside of the thermos bottle will get hotter and hotter. As the temperature keep on rises, it will affect a lot of things… It will melt all the icebergs and snow on mountains, that will make the whole water level of the sea rises. If the water level rises, the water might cover the lands beside the sea. This will be an extra serious problem for these countries.Technology is a nice thing, but also a thing that makes the problem of global warming worse.
For the fifth observation, I think that it is true. The fact is, technologies are helping us for better life, but it still harms the environment. 1.Well, in my opinion,I think it is true, because our technology will become more and more advanced through out the times, and even now, many people are destroying the Earth. So the scientists would probably try to make the car first.
2. I think it is false, because Earth’s population of farmers are decreasing. Not many people want to be farmers now, because it is tiring, you have to work all day, afternoon, and sometimes at night, you have to live in shacks, there is no Wifi, or much electronic devices.

We are becoming too attracted to technology. Instead of playing games, how about we go on a hike, or go swimming? It keeps us healthy, unlike just sitting on the sofa and not moving for the entire day.
7. It is definitely false, because, hey! We use technology at least 4 hours a day! We use it to take pictures, chat on social medias, and all that stuff. I, myself, at least use 5 hours of technology every day. 5 times 7, equals 35. I use at least 35 hours of technology a week. That is a lot.

Technology will soon surround us, and we might be obsessed with them that we don’t even realise that we rely too much on technology, but not most of the technologies are bad.Let me. Explain why.
1) I think one day cars will all be modified, so that the planet won’t be destroyed by our carbon emissions. We could use electric power as a battery for our cars in the future! People will no longer be harming the planet any more.
2) I think this is also true because farmers just keep planting fruits and vegetables, so even though we ate all the meat and fish in the world we could just keep on planting, so that we would never starve.

Technology will soon surround us, and we might be obsessed with them that we don’t even realise that we rely too much on technology, but not most of the technologies are bad.Let me. Explain why.

2) I think this is also true because farmers just keep planting fruits and vegetables, so even though we ate all the meat and fish in the world we could just keep on planting, so that we would never starve.
3) I think human beings could not stop doing research on computer technology whenever they decide it is to their advantage to do so because scientists need technology to discover how do animals’ live and look for new bacterias’ and stuff.

And the first practical electric cars were produced in the 1880s. But there is a big problem: there aren’t many charging stations in Hong Kong.

So for the problem of less and less people be farmer is solved. Then I think that farmer can also plant plants in the indoor greenhouse too, they can use LED grow light. 1. True. Since cars exhaust harmful pollution to the environment, scientists have been inventing new types of cars which reduce polluting fumes to our living environment. In recent years, electric cars have been established in order to decrease the amount of carbon dioxide released by car engines. While technology has been developing rapidly, I believe that more and more environmentally-friendly cars would be made in the future so as to eliminate the chance of causing excessive harm to the environment.

Although there are ways suggested to boost crop yields and crop quality with an aim to feed the world’s growing population, I do not think that farmers could make hunger elimination possible. Firstly, it still takes time to educate people in less developed countries that they should control birth rates. 1. I don’t agree that cars will eventually be made so that they will not cause excessive harm to the environment. It is because some of the cars will give off some gases that will cause harm to the environment, animals and even humans, that ‘monster’ is carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide is a colourless and tasteless flammable gas that is slightly less dense than air. Carbon monoxide poisoning is the most common type of fatal air poisoning in many countries. Although carbon monoxide is not known as a direct contributor to climate change, however, it plays a role in this area.
2. Farmers will determine ways to feed the world’s growing population and eliminate hunger and I don’t agree with this statement. I believe that every farmer wants to be a farmer not just to earn money, but want to help eliminate hunger. There are not many people now who want to do this job, because it needs a lot of hard work to get a good result. In that case, technology can help. Metals have no feelings and they just have to follow the instructions (coding).
3. Human beings can stop doing research on computer technology whenever they decide it is to their advantage to do so and I think this is also true. Try to think who did all this amazing stuff? It is human! We can stop whenever we like because it is our choice. However… Humans will not improve on technologies if we stopped. Maybe a thousand years later, lions will take over the world. I do not agree with this point. Because the number of people will increase so the supply will not be enough. Still, if no number of people increases, the supply will not be enough too. Because some people will eat much food and supply like normally one person eats a bowl of rice but some of them will eat two to three bowls! I do not agree with this point. Because people did rely on technology. Like checking unknown words, in the old days, people used the dictionary to check words but now, we use computers, so we really rely on technology.
I do agree with this point. Because if we don’t have the technology, we cannot do the zoom lesson too. So technology really is a great invention.

1) True, Because with the rapid development of information and technology, people will start thinking about buying an electric car because they want to keep up with the trends and help the environment.
2) False, The population of being a farmer is decreasing. Because being a Farmer is really tiring and you have to do a bunch of stuffs everyday. Like, feeding the farm animals, collect fruits and foods , drive the tractor , plant the seed , cut the wheat , brush the animals ,etc…
3) True, because it can improve our daily lives , like communications ! People don’t have to write a letter to his/ her friend now, we can now use various communications channels instead of writing a letter which is a waste of energy.
4) False, global warming is a really serious problem , rising temperatures are affecting wildlife and habitats, sea levels are expected to rise between 10 and 32 inches , hurricanes and typhoons are likely to become stronger. Floods and droughts will become more common.
5) True, because you need resources to make the wires, the computer , mouse etc…
6) True, because technology can help treat more sick people and consequently save many lives and defeat very harmful viruses and bacteria. Research is also simplified. You don’t need to buy so many books.
7) False, because for example you don’t know how to do a question on your homework you will just pick up an electronic device and go to google to search for the answer. If it is a test and you don’t know how to do it then you will fail the test.
8) True, because we can access all the material needs we can ever want, medicine has progressed so far compared to 100 years ago that we can cure a cold or flu you will die .
